Revamped Tali'zorah by MelodicMadness Revamped Tali'zorah by MelodicMadness
Look who finally got around to uploading photos from AX! //lazy//

My friend Mikel was amazing and took a lot of photos of my costumes for me. This is one of my favorite shots that she took.

If any of you remember my old Tali cosplay, then you probably see the improvements I've made. Brand new body suit (better materials and I hand painted the hexagon pattern on it) and I redid the trim on the hoodie, as well as making it fit better. The helmet was cast out of resin and the mouthpiece lights up when I talk.
And you know what? it's STILL not done. But it'll eventually get there haha.

Now here's some HILARIOUS that happened at the convention. Mikel and Kathryn were my escorts pretty much, especially Mikel. Apparently she looked like it too so this guy walks up....
Guy: //looks at Mikel// Can I take your picture?
Mikel: ...sure?
Guy: //turns to me and takes the picture. Turns back to Mikel// Thank you.
Mikel: Uh... you're welcome.
Me: ....Does he think I can't speak or something?
Mikel: Maybe I just look like your bodyguard.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy. I'll upload more photos if I get bored. :3

Costume made and worn by me.

Hey! I was hoping to do a Tali cosplay and this is by far the most impressive cosplay of hers that I've been able to find. Do you have or would you mind making a tutorial or just giving some pointers? Thanks! I love deviantART!

Sorry it took me so long to reply to you! I think I could manage the body suit, but I'm really stuck on how to approach the helmet. I don't have any background or tools to work with plastics or anything and I can't find anywhere online I could just buy the darn thing. How did you go about making yours?

(That said, if you made a tutorial for the whole process I would love you!)

The helmet is actually cast resin, sanded, then painted. it was a long and painful progress, and I don't have any of the supplies to show a tutorial for it, unfortunately! it was also pricey so i'm positive there is a better way to make one. This is my second helmet, actually. My first one was a rush job, and that was pretty much constructed with craft foam and cardboard, which, if done right, would actually make a really great helmet. i still haven't found the best material for the purple screen, but i might be able to give tips on the rest of it if you'd like, and do a faux-tutorial?

That would be awesome! I know a lot of people use pepakura to form the basic shell of the helmet (and I was thinking of doing that too) but the purple visor part seems just so impossible. Thank you so much! The foam/cardboard approach seems more doable.

This looks so amazing! I know this was uploaded ages ago, but I was wondering if you could tell me the fabric type you used for the hood. I am going to hopefully cosplay tali this year and I have found a cotton fabric which I can use, but I am not sure if cotton would fall right.

Thanks in advance!

Seriously jealous! If I make mine look half as good as yours I will be happy!

thanks so much! i'm so happy to hear you like it :) I'm still doing improvements to it and I hope to rewear the new version soon!

as for the fabric, I used a cotton as well (with knit lining. knit falls very nicely). I think the cotton had a little bit of stretch one way, but it's very basic. so it should work well for you! play around with it and drap it to see how it falls but I think you're good.

I'm glad you like my costume!
I found a purple motorcycle helmet face shield on ebay (it was just the plastic face shield so it was farely cheap) but it didn't have the best of a curve so it was a bit hard fitting into the frame of the helmet.

What was the base you used for the entire thing? I'm planning on making it on my own, seeing as I'm not quite rich enough to purchase the entire thing online.

This will be my first time making most of a cosplay. Of course, I usually have a much less complex character outfit to work with.

What do you mean, as a base? The bodysuit, I made a pattern and made it of 2 different fabric, then hand painted the hexagons on. Is that what you mean?

Thanks a bunch!
For the fabric on the hexagon part, I think I actually got a matte stretch satin? It didn't have a name since I found it at a store that's just has huge rolls of fabric and no labels, but it's very stretchy one way, and has a slight sheen to it up close. I hope you can find something like that!
I stenciled on the hexagons using white watercolor pencil, then hand painted all of the hexagons on with fabric paint, and that's how I got the patter if you were wondering ^^

Hi, I'm also making a Tali cosplay, but I'm struggling with keeping the wraps from slipping down my legs (we did some velcro, but I honestly don't think it was enough) Would you mind telling me how you kept the wraps on your leg? This is the first cosplay I've ever made (always bought them before) and I really would appreciate the help!

Hi there!
I had to have a friend help me safety pin them in place as I stood still, and she kept readjusting them through the day so I still have to go back and find a better way of doing it. I was thinking of using snap buttons in addition to velcro, since snap buttons hold better. They're really annoying to keep in the same spot, since real fabric doesn't work like video game fabric.
And wow, that's definitely a hard first cosplay. If you need help on anything else, let me know!

Awe, thank you so much! I'm going to redo the cosplay entirely after the con I'm going to, as I've learned a lot (though the wrap and hood are actually really nice) I was thinking a combo of snap buttons and velcro! So I guess I"ll just see how that works!

and I will certainly ask questions again if I come up against something! Right now, I'm about to conquer the leg armor with craft foam...hopefully the wire I use to make the foam bends helps get a leg shape!

And thank you for the comment! ^^

First off, I'm Commander Shepard and this is the best Cosplay of Tali on the citadel.

Secondly, if you lived anywhere close by I'd love to ask you to model in this for a photo project I've been dying to do called, "Science Reality" ... I'm working on the title ... I know it sucks. But it will be cool! Cosplayers in real life situations! ^^

Hmm, I think I have something that may help!
It's a bit confusing but this is how I pieced my hoodie together: [link]
I still haven't gotten the hood shape down perfectly but you can get some muslin and mess around with it first if you want.
The hoodie fabric is a two way stretch so that it followed my shape a little better (since just about everything on Tali is skin-tight.
Hope these help!

Haha, no bad pick up lines. But I did have one guy pretend to propose to me in his picture... even though the ring he was holding wouldn't fit Quarian fingers.

Oh Quarian Problems. Well, I'm sad that no one got creative with terrible pick-up lines, but that's good news for you. The best I could possibly think of would be, " I'm Commander Shepard, and you are the Sexiest thing on the Citadel."

Note: Would not advise ever trying that ... ever. :P
